I agree completely and my advice was that he should quit and look for a new job.

He needs to look for another job and make them fire him. If you quit they are free from an legal liability but if they fire him he might be able to file a lawsuit against them. I am sure there will lots of lawsuits against employers.

Well look for a new job then quit or get fired whatever happens first.
