Going solo does not include using YouTube. WTF? He would make more because he wouldnt be dishing out a percentage to Spotify.

Look at Alex Jones. His site is trash and he has about a 10th of the following Joe does, yet he still makes the big bucks.

Get your brain off mega corps. There is the other 99% of the internet out there for you to discover.
