Downvoting me doesn't make you right, dumbass.
Their security settings rely on you having their "xFI Gateway", which is just a fancy name for a modem with a built-in router. The settings you access on "the server" are merely pushing changes to your gateway using options that are normally not exposed to the user (blocklists, etc). The blocking is done AT THE GATEWAY. They do this because otherwise you would have NO connection if their filtering system in wherever-the-fuck couldn't connect to your gateway. This also places the overhead at YOUR end of the connection, not theirs.
If you don't have one of their gateways, you literally DO NOT HAVE THE OPTION to even turn on their "Advanced Security." The option simply does not exist.
If they were filtering on their side, and if I have no option to toggle the settings on or off because I run my own equipment, then tell me why I have ZERO problems accessing ANY address they filter "on the ISP side." The answer is "because they filter at the gateway" and I don't use theirs.
Once again, in case you're slow...
The filtering is done AT. THE. GATEWAY. The actual settings are hidden from the user interface, and the options are pushed out from the account to the gateway. What you see on your account page is a dumbed-down, Fischer-Price version of what gets sent to your gateway if you rent one from them.
