A time will come when the NPC have suffered enough and the masses push back. At that time there will be a gun behind every blade of grass. Real patriots do not advertise their preparations. Too many people are still too comfortable.
A comfortable fiction, to be sure. By the time that much support exists, the weapons will have been taken, the intelligent, capable, and outspoken will have been arrested. I'm not saying a revolt will never occur. I am saying that by the time it does, there will be nothing left to conserve, and no concept by which one can claim to be patriotic. A patriot and a prepper are not the same thing; they can be, but one is a private undertaking, and the other is a public expression.
It is not a build up of support, it is a reduction of resistance. When the majority is compliant, the government can suppress the minority. When the majority stop being compliant, the government enforcement is quickly overwhelmed.
