Damn I wish I checked Poal earlier today. I'm still waiting on my papers to be denied, which I'll then have 5 calendar days to submit a rebuttal. Although he's on my side, my commander doesn't believe it'll be approve by Big Blue, and is having me get my ducks in a row for a worst case scenario. Unfortunately, my commander doesn't even know if it'll be an Honorable or a General discharge, or if it'll be left up to him, but he doesn't believe it'll be less than a General discharge.
My coworkers are on my side as well, and is my immediate supervision and my chaplain. I've been in long enough that I should get a severance package though, unless they find a way to steal that from me. Combine that with my savings and I'll be able to meander for a year looking for a career, and much longer if I have a part time job, although being single with no debt certainly helps my flexibility.
If it is denied, I'm to leave the USAF April 1st, or 5 months after notified. However, I was just shown a draft copy so it's not set in stone yet, but I figure it'll be the 5 month one since April is five months after Nov 2nd, the date we were suppose to be inoculated by.
If I do get booted, It's not too late to pick up a trade.
Good luck. You can always make money in trades. Funny thing is I worked in the civilian world full time for 13 years before joining so I know I can make it but of course the unknown still screws with your mind.
Yeah. At least you have that to fall back on. I'd probably be starting my career from square one, although I'd imagine I'd be more desirable than a 19 year old. Still, 10 years of service is not something I want to squander.
13 years is a long time to be in the civilian world before going military. Why'd you make the jump?
I'm obviously retarded haha. It's something I always wanted to do, but due to growing up in 2 different countries (and now living in my third), I was always torn back and forth. So before I was too old I decided to give it a go and signed up. I actually tried out for SF when I was younger but didn't make the cut and it was an overall shit experience so that put me off for a long time as well. Plus just getting in took 1.5 years cause I wanted the specific position I have now, so I had to wait until a spot was open (infantry but stationed outside of my home country). PS: I'm in Europe not US military
