The reason why that happened is in because Sweden jury members were never selected randomly instead regional political councils were supposed to choose "men known for having good judgement and good moral character" (I don't remember the exact phrasing).
TLDR: Never trust politicians about anything. They will just help each other out those f***ers.
And while on the subject of Politicians suck ass.
Ya know we Swedes are relatively proud of the Nobel prize. With one crucial exception the cuck Nobel prize in peace.
Why? Well you can fuggin' guess why. Why does the Nobel Peace Prize suck balls. Because it is the only Nobel Prize where instead of experts pick the winner politicians pick who gets the prize.
Another fun fact: Actually it's not even Swedish politicians, but the Norwegian parliament, that pick the winner but that's it's own separate story.
