Tasty is opposite of repugnant. Repugnant and/or bitter is frequently enough a palate-synonym for "rotten", "bad", "gone off", or "poison". Which for pre-agricultural man was sufficient an approximation (given our lifespan and quality of life at the time) of true nutrition, to maximize survival all things being equal.
