No but can give you bacterial pneumonia
You'll make yourself sicker by wearing a mask,look-up (co2 blood levels)wearing a mask and not wearing.
Bacterial pneumonia, caused by people wearing masks, killed most of the victims of the Spanish Flu epidemic.
Think about it this way. Masks absorb moisture from your breath, which is how the virus travels. This moisture dries out and now with every breath you are expelling viruses that are truly airborne and not confined to small droplets.
the virus isn't airborne, it's going nowhere without a water droplet
you reduce the velocity of that water droplet and hopefully it'll hit the ground before it hits the mucus membrane of the nearest human
if you increase the surface area of a moist fabric and keep the air velocity the same, that effectively reduces the droplet travel compared to an open mouth. If you increase the velocity (sneezing) then at some point the moist fabric probably isn't helping because the increased air resistance means it's just going to come out the sides anyway
The point being is that you don't sneeze in someone's face
cloth masks are generally pointless N95 does have some effect staying away from people is probably the best idea, which is what I do.
The point being is that you don't sneeze in someone's face
That's the only use of a mask. It keeps your snot out of the patient.
Check out what happened when Americans wore masks/mask like face coverings during the great dust bowl, it led to many cases of pneumonia, a bacterial infection of the lungs. The same happened in many countries around the world when excessive mask wearing was under taken, including during kungflu
I totally agree. Just the added face touching would likely spread it more. But I also think the mask diffuses the exhaled breath in all directions, causing it to linger in the air longer. Whereas without a mask peoples breath has more of a downward trajectory.
No. I went from getting the flu 3 to 5 times a year, every year, to zero flu for the last 2-3 years. I'd also mention zero colds as well. You can spin doctor that however you want (luck, fluke, psychosomatic immunity, etc).
