Exactly. I had to fix up a broken down bike I found in the garage and was thrilled to have for a day till and uncle came by and claimed was his. My older brother found me another that had no brakes and two minutes into that ride I crashed and had to be stitched up. Grandparents who raised me realized it would be cheaper on doctor bills to get me a new bike . That lasted till lunch when I left it on the front lawn. Came outside to find it vanished. Scoured the neighborhood asking and got mocked by the culprits. Heading home I found it's remains in the school parking lot minus the cool slicks and banana seat. Took the carcass home and tearfully showed Grandma. She took me to a bicycle shop where it got standard wheels with regular tires and regular seat but it was totally ride able. Before that when I was younger I got a huge box of cutoff wood from another uncle which were all about 4" by 2" by 1 1/2". I must have worn those blocks smooth building forts and stuff. Only rarely did we ever get toys but I learned to take care of them. When I managed to get money a kite at the 7-11 was bought for several days of fun. Kids care about things like that. When I learned read the public library saw me often. Grandma did eventually buy me a set of Britannica Encyclopedia which I went through from a to z . That must have been an expensive investment which earned me the nickname of "Know-It-All".
Don't be afraid to have kids and invest in them. Even little things to kids mean alot.
Yeah I definitely want to invest in them and their future. They definitely won’t be spoiled on my salary. I mentioned another comment I had to share rooms and hand me downs growing up and I never minded. My kids will probably do the same.
