Diversify your portfolio to include food, water, and Newport Cigarettes.

It's a joke, but it's also true. Food, water, and barter stuffs. Things that you can either trade or bribe with.

Mini lighters. Tea candles. TP. Cheap makeup (not too much, it goes bad after a few years). Salt and pepper. (If you are putting back all the rice and beans with no salt and pepper, you will be a sad motherfucker -- and maybe not for too long if you die of lack of sodium.) Airline bottles of booze. (My local package store has a whole endcap of them for $0.99-4.99 around Christmas, so I always buy $30 or so then.) Toenail clippers. Travel bottles of shampoo. Small rolls of duct tape.

I don’t smoke a lot anymore but when I did it was Newport’s.

What's the shelf life of cigarettes?

[–] 0 pt

not sure for ciggies, but you can buy sealed tin cans of tobacco that will likely last for decades. and rolling papers shouldnt have an expiration date

[–] 1 pt

Ha. Newports. That made me laugh. Sidebar: I would never “deal” with ((anything)) that wanted “Newport’s”. Shit, if it comes down to a “barter” system...that (bartering) will last about 30 seconds. It will immediately evolve into “Kill and Take”.

Gotta have good bait for a good trap dummy

[–] 1 pt

Good point but those idiots will have nothing of value to me.

I like Newport’s. There used to be this place around where I live they had roll your own cigarettes. Pick your flavors all the stuff. Man they tasted like candy. God were so good. If all cigarettes tasted like that I would be a smoker. They’re were rock hard , they burned for like 30 minutes it seemed like. So good. Then that place got shut down for tax evasion. You used to be able to get like 200 cigarettes for 20 bucks. Man I miss that place. Too good to last

Grow your own tobacco in a 5 gallon bucket. I don’t smoke cigarettes but they are a cool plant to grow.

[–] 0 pt

You'd take their Newport Cigarettes?

You the realest nigger I ever seen

[–] 1 pt

Ha. No. I have no plans to barter with anyone. And I would have absolutely no use for Newport’s or any kind of cigarette. If I needed tobacco I’d grow it. I actually grow dark leaf and make natural pesticide for my gardens if needed.

Invest in a homestead, learn welding and carpentry

Yes. Put all your money into ammo, especially 50 cal, and 14ga-no need for any other calibers. Fuck food water shelter and medicine, that stuff is over rated. A comfy chair is also a must have, try Svago.

Ammo will buy you anything, even if the person isn't selling.

You are correct if you have the element of surprise, and you are the only one with a weapon. Suffice to say, your plan will most likely succeed in the early stages of mad max, in the cities. But...try that same tactic out here in the country, where most people have a gun in every room, you’ll not get the result you counted on.

I diversified my portfolio with a moonshine still, extra gun powder, cannon fuse, parts for claymoors, veggy seeds.

Yeah I want to plant potatoes because it's easy and calorie-rich but until I actually need them I'll distill vodka.

This is the smart thing. Invest in something you can use right now, thats also an investment for later.

No man has ever stayed rich putting all eggs in one basket.

Yes, post civilization when you are outnumbered by a roving band of pirates, they will appreciate all the ammo you gave them.

[–] 1 pt

I also invested in reloading stuff. Primers are the hardest thing for me to find.

[–] 1 pt

At least have something to defend yourself, if you are stockpiling these things.

No. I hope this isn't a serious question. This would only be true if you were imminently going into a massive firefight. So unless you're planning to get into a massive shoot out with the feds in the next month, don't spend all your money on ammo.

If things get bad it will be a universal currency.

Wars are won with food, water, and bullets. Unless you're part of an army that's fighting a war, food, water, and other necessities of life will always take precedence. Not saying ammunition isn't important, but for a private citizen looking to survive a collapse scenario, it's easily the least important of the three. Things like coffee, alcohol, tobacco, and luxury convenience items will be just as, if not more, valuable than simple ammunition.

as long as you have a gun that can use it, it should be a good investment. you will need the place to store it safely, also say invest and then only is a very bad idea. diversification is key to investing ammo, non-perishables, etc. that applies to even the stock market having all in on one thing could destroy you overnight(unless its physical assets)
