I think that any person who pays attention could tell the difference. I buy local farm raised beef and can definitely tell the difference between that and the supermarket beef. But I am not sure any of my kids have enough of a refined taste to care...
I think that there are millions of modern day people who cram shit in their faces all day. If your idea of 'beef' is 'the stuff in the bottom of the taco' or 'the grey stuff in the center of a Big Mac' then I think you would have a hard time telling the difference.
A professional beef taste tester (they exist) can accurately tell :
- male or female
- age 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 years
- type of kill method (adrenaline changes flavor dramatically in carcass)
Its been written about a few times in news articles.
I contend that 'Grass fed vs Grain fed' is easy to discern as well as 'Farm raised vs Pen raised'
That means jews and sand jews like the taste of meat that's tortured before death. Kosher and halal slaughter are pretty rough ways to go.
