Why are you pretending that I think the actual distinction between just authority and tyranny changes what tyrants do? It obviously does not and reducing the discussion down to that is idiotic. The distinction between just authority and tyranny changes the moral or rightful obligation to obey. And I still believe it is important to maintain moral consistency. That was a large part of the Declaration of Independence; outlining the moral grounds for separating from the rule of a tyrant and justifying the use of force to back it up. Obviously tyrants will still tyrannize no matter how morally justified we are.
