Drinking in your mindset seems like a bad idea. Don't overdo it.

It will probably not help you but imagine: Civilization always go through the 4 stages of the circle. Half of humanity in history have probably lived in the crappy parts of the cycle when things break down, yet they must have had something to live for. We are just unlucky to live in a shitty time.
I remember hearing the rule:
Don't drink to drench your sorrow, drink to add to the enjoyment of the moment.
That seems to work well for me, but everyone is different. Drinking when I was feeling down has never helped me.
