I’m building some cabins and don’t want to go the sono tube route. I’ll probably just fill them with rocks. Is there anything other than stone that I can put in there that I can salvage from construction sites? Broken brick seems too easy. Must be a catch. Anything that takes up space and won’t compress too much. Hope everyone is having a great start to the year.

Your cabin base needs a foundation that will resist frost heave. Sono tubes filled with concrete are an economical choice. Wood piers are also really good, but harder to come by in some areas. Building on slabs means you will have to jack and level your cabin periodically.
