One time I was having troubles with anxiety and sleep so my psychiatrist prescribed Seroquel. He said I could take them as needed. I was doing somewhat better in terms of sleep so i figured I’d lay off of them. Bad idea. I proceeded to go into a psychotic break. I went to the outpatient psych hospital and they blamed it on the weed I had been smoking for 5 ish years. I don’t believe it was this, because I continued to smoke despite what the doctors told me and have never had a problem in 2+ years. I don’t get paranoid or anything when i smoke. I told the doctors that I thought it might be from seroquel withdrawal and they said it was “impossible”. I have another friend with the same story minus the weed. These drugs are downright dangerous and should only be used if absolutely needed, not for sleep issues and anxiety. Apparently docs are handing these pills out like candy these days for people with anxiety and insomnia, because they’re trying to not use xanax or benzos anymore due to addiction liability. The seroquel also makes you get super fat and raises your risk of blood pressure going through the roof, as well as diabetes. I’m still losing weight from being on seroquel from 2 years ago. You live and learn I guess. Just a warning for you guys out there that doctors are retarded these days.

Sounds terrible.

Sure, "impossible" yet I can believe it totally is the cause. It sure seems that a lot of drugs cause people to gain weight and lost blood sugar control leading to lot more damage than the drugs treat.

Oh, I have a lot of stories that confirm this. I do hope you are doing better now and not leaving it to the doctors.
