If the plural of ox is oxen, why isn't the plural of box, 'boxen'?
That was funny when George Carlin said it.
Oh yeah. Well FUCK george carlin. Also, just so im clear. Hes one of my favorite modern day philosophers.
I think parkways when they were designed we're more of a scenic route back when cars were just starting to be mainstreamed. The parkway is by where I lived we're always in pretty areas but they just seemed more like conduits then scenic. But looking back 100 years one could see how the area would have looked. As far as driveway yeah I have no idea why it's called that. My father calls it the apron which I don't understand but that makes more sense I guess.
Very interesting. Also, these posts were more for poking fun at that wolfgang individual. Just stirring the pot O' shit.
The apron is a pilot term, it's the part of the airport between the gate and the runway where the airplanes go to sleep
That's funny because he was in aviation. And now I know why he called it that. I think I have to have more whiskey sit down sessions with him by the backyard fire pit before it's too late. We talked about some crazy shit one time and drank a half a bottle of whiskey. which hung me over for 3 days but it was worth it.
Back in the day, you would drive along a parkway, as in "the path next to a park" with places where you could stop.
Driveways (especially in the country) were pretty long, so you'd have to drive a ways to get to the house.
With increasing land development, things have kind of changed.
