If one state hired some smart people to redesign the voting system, with all components and stats visible, then people in other states could point to that.
Things that would need to happen, IMHO:
- id required
- mail in only for military and incapacitated
- mail in requires notary
- mail in means that you have waived rights to secret ballot (you could have been non-secret before mailing, so this has already been violated)
- all mail in ballots will be kept with identifying paperwork
- every ballot will be scanned, and all ballot images will become public information that is posted online so that anyone can count the votes.
- only these votes will count
This would not be expensive, and these days any cs grad student could write the tallying software. The only gap is fake mail ins and they would have to remain auditable.
The whole point is that they have made elections as non-transparent and unauditable as possible on purpose; flipping those would flip the fraud.
