Is there any new (not classic or antique) car, not too exotic, anybody would buy for at least somewhat of an asset? If you had maybe $40,000? People are looking for assets, afraid of cash.

hybrid Toyota

I regularly get 36-42mpg average on a tank with my RAV4. You'll get even better mileage with a Toyota sedan. Into the 50-60 range I would guess.
