Short term, yes. The women will flock to men with good genes and the 80-20 rule is eugenical. Long term, no. The men not getting a harem will revolt. Which leads to inner strife in a nation or requires expansionary wars for more women. Better to have monogamy with people with similar attractiveness/fitness/genetics.
