If you get away from Santa Fe and Albuquerque the people and culture are welcoming and warm. And there’s a lot more to the state than desert, although that’s beautiful in its own right. The west central mountains pull me.
I grew up in New Mexico and loved it there when I was a kid. Had grand parents in Ruidoso, it was a great place until about 16 years ago...now its a forsaken liberal wasteland. New Mexico is a dead state like California and I don't ever want to step there again.
What you say is true. I left nearly 20 years ago. I watched my area get infiltrated by Californicators in the 1990s. Gary Johnson was Governor. I do understand it’s turned brilliant blue.
But, the question was if money was no object. I’d buy at least 2 sections and fence all of it.
