I have a small wood insert in an old stone fireplace. I typically brush it out once a year but I plan on using it quite a bit more frequently now that my kids are getting older. I'm burning bone-dry, standing dead western larch and Douglas-fir. How frequently do you guys brush?

I just use those celibate logs. One at the start of season and one halfway through.
