I mean, I don't know anyone who prepares for the past.
Actually, that's what governments do because they're too stupid to look forward. It's easier to prepare for something that has already happened than to imagine what may happen in the future.
Here's an example: Texas and California had their electric infrastructure fail. Before that happened, few could imagine the electric infrastructure failing due to normalcy bias. Now people are waking up to the fact we can't depend on utilities keeping our infrastructure running, either due to poor maintenance, too high of a demand or energy prices. There are a confluence of problems causing this possibility.
Granted, there are many people refusing to notice this trend and will be caught off guard because they expect politicians to fix this for them. Sadly, this will not be fixed, rather the collapse will be hastened due to government action.
