I used to shoot with friends in college and one guy who was big into bird hunting got us all into trap shooting. At the time the only shotgun I has was an 870 with an 18.5" open barrel. I had to learn to shoot rapidly since my pattern went to shit out past 20ish yards. I would usually shoot 22 or 23 for 25. I hadn't shot much the last 5 or so years but I recently bought a 28" barrel with changeable chokes and started practicing again. Holy shit it's so much easier and I had forgotten how enjoyable it was.

What is 5 stand?

5 positions (stands) with 5 clays each all from various orgins, direction and speeds. Much more difficult, but imo much more rewarding and much more to learn.

That sounds really fun. We were poorfags in school and we just used hand throwers. When we all got pretty accurate we started having two guys throw and would change up the speed and trajectory as much as possible.

Hey, getting to shoot anything moving is exponentially more fun. As with all things, one can expect a range of complexity, if you truly enjoyed trap, then learning 5 stand can be very rewarding. Especially when you do report pairs and have two disks flying through the air in opposite directions. Something about dusting two in under a second flat just feels fucking good.
