A while back, Voat users provided a series of Windows install files and programs to remove all of the telemetry and related services from Windows 7. This suite was called Aegis.

Non-enterprise Windows 10 is blatant spyware. Has there been any attempt to create an Aegis for 10? Or is the software that deep in globohomo cuckery that there's no point to it?

When my Windows 7 machine inevitably dies, it would be nice to not have to learn Linux. But if there's no other choice, oh well, I'll man up.

It's still that way. At least for Debian, Ubuntu, and Mint. I tried all three on the last three machines I built and had constant issues with video and WiFi drivers that were locking me out of the internet or freezing the machine every ten minutes.
