I'm unconvinced it ever existed outside a laboratory. The initial runup was all standard cold, flu, and pneumonia cases rebranded as c19. It wasn't until the injections started that independent outbreaks started. The delta variant is the injection.
Technically all "variants" are Corona variants. Finding a new variant would be trivial and in abundance. That, however, doesn't mean it is c19.
