The OP asked if Hitler was evil, and I'm specifically talking about Hitler and the National Socialist party. What individual soldiers, doctors, or others, within the NatSoc party did, is historically relevant, but not relevant to my point, which was that Hitler wasn't evil. Mengele(not Mangala) doesn't represent the party or it's goals. If he committed atrocities against innocent people, he's evil.
Are you blaming Hitler for the fall of the West? I can't tell.
I'd say that's a reasonable reply. Thank you.
That said, Hitler knew what was going on. His leadership style was diffused responsibility for results. Meaning you let people do whatever, so long as you see results. Hitler knew well people were being treated as horrific experiments. This is lacking in morality. Even his own Air Force saw honor in war. With examples of escorts for defeated aircrews and so on. There was no honor in what was permitted by many of his underlings. And it requires seeing people as nothing but base animals. Something of humanity and the Aryan spirit was missing.
Does that make him evil? I dunno. The shit Jews did to the German people hardens any informed, moral person. Maybe it is walk a mile... But it certainly doesn't make him good. Maybe he rationalized? Maybe whatever... that's the problem.
Well, that's something I'm not aware of, is Hitler's knowledge of what was happening in Auschwitz at that point. Mengele had been a legitimate doctor and researcher before the war, and he wasn't the top guy at the camp or anything. By the time he got to Auschwitz, Germany was well into WWII, and Hitler may have had much more important things on his mind. I tried finding correspondence between them but couldn't.
And, I'm just "assuming" for the sake of this argument that the charges against Mengele are true, which I'm not certain all of them are. We're told the gas chambers were used to kill millions of jews....when in fact they were almost certainly used to treat them for lice. They turned legitimate and common medical treatment into an atrocity. So I just can't say. I lean toward something in the middle. Regardless, I doubt Hitler even know who Mengele was.
But it's a tangled mess, for sure.
We're told the gas chambers
No evidence they existed. Evidence exists they didn't.
charges against Mengele
Basically the opposite situation here.
I only mention him because he's an easy example to make the point.
It's a tangled mess, for sure.
This is in part what I say it doesn't matter. He was right on many things. Including nations, Aryans (spark of divinity), truth in biblical history (he supported much of what I push here), and the threat of Jews to the world.
It's his execution which sucked. Which leaves us all fucked today.
