Maybe I'm stupid, but I can't understand what's the big deal about concealed carry of guns. I don't want to show that I have gun. It's just a matter of privacy for me. I don't want to be assaulted from behind by somebody who is trying to steal my gun. Also don't want to look like an idiot who is showing everyone his gun. I don't see what's the difference between open carry and concealed carry in terms of public safety. So why concealed carry is illegal in some states?

First off the "Element of surprise" is only good once your a victim. Cops and Military they Open Carry dont they? Why is that. IDK maybe infinitely fast draw time over concealed.

Fun fact did you know open carry can stop a crime before it happens? See criminals are lazy, hence why they commit crime. So they choose weak victims. They too also dont want to die. Its Okay to show you wont be victim.

Also your open carried gun well never be stolen if you keep your head on a swivel. Now you want to just be an armed NPC go conceal.

So why concealed carry is is illegal in some states?

Liberals are dumb. In fact we would all be better off if EVEYONE open carried.

Note: I do both CC and OC. Try concealing a full size 1911.... Yea some times you just have to oc.

Finally, someone who knows what they are talking about. The number of cases of open carry where a weapon was successfully stolen in the US is something like two - against elderly men. Iirc.

Open carry and concealed are very complimentary. Open carry is a crime deterrent just like parking lot police towers, parked police cars, and security cams. Simply seeing one makes criminals think twice. This also makes them think about the concealed weapons they can't see.

As you said, criminals are prey animals. They look for the weak. They prefer no risk to themselves.

Drawing from AIWB can be just as fast as drawing from a retention holster with practice. Most shooters can draw from appendix and put a shot on target sub 1.5 seconds, guys that dry fire a lot are doing sub second shots on target. Open carrying makes you a target, literally search "gun stolen from open carrier" and there are dozens of news stories from the last year of different instances. Any legitimate firearms instructor will tell you that concealed carry is the only way to carry.

I get some of the idea of not letting anyone see that you have a gun on you. But so much of the "advice" around it comes off exactly like the fudds saying that the 2A is for sporting and hunting. Like they're desperate to not offend someone with their firearms. I OC and CC depending on where I'm headed. I started open carrying a lot more when my city tried to force masks.

Cops use active retention and so should open carriers. Usually just a button that clamps on the ejection port. You draw with your pointer finger out anyways so it's easy to press.

Edit: I should say that's one type of active retention as there's a bunch of different ones.

Pocket carry draw time with a good holster is faster than open carry. You can have your hand on the gun.
