Maybe I'm stupid, but I can't understand what's the big deal about concealed carry of guns. I don't want to show that I have gun. It's just a matter of privacy for me. I don't want to be assaulted from behind by somebody who is trying to steal my gun. Also don't want to look like an idiot who is showing everyone his gun. I don't see what's the difference between open carry and concealed carry in terms of public safety. So why concealed carry is illegal in some states?

It used to be acceptable to carry weapons in public. Only criminals concealed. Thus historically the law targeted criminals, and if you wanted to conceal you had to officially state your good intent. Now permits and taxes and the attacks on open carry are a huge bastardization that flips this historical reasoning on its head.

This is the historically accurate answer.
