I saw a video on YouTube of a guy selling a mattress. I bought it and I'm happy. The key concept was that it's a compartmentalized mattress so if the top layer develops the characteristic u-shape where you always lay at night, it can be replaced for 1/5 the cost of a new mattress and it's essentially brand new. Don't get anything with a "pillow top" or memory foam built-in. When that shit gets fucked, you're bed is fucked. Get the firmest mattress you can get that has no pillow top or memory foam and then get a nice 4-inch memory foam topper. You can replace the topper as needed and the mattress will last forever.

I got the tuft and needle mint mattress off of Amazon for free because they didn’t want me to ship it back per their satisfaction guarantee. It’s comfy and I used to over heat at night, So the cooling gel isn’t just a meme.

Two four inch thick queen size high-density foam pads, a two inch thick memory foam mattress topper, and two 'feather-beds' like so:

For over ten years I slept on just a two inch thick king size foam pad, which gradually compressed to like one inch thick, before I got my current setup. Big difference!

You can go to mattress firm and lay on a bunch. I got mine from the sale rack. It was like 1/5 of the price. It’s super nice too. Most new mattresses now are over $1000 so the sale rack is cool

Sealy Condor. It's absolutely amazing. Just the right balance of soft but with firm support.

Latex mattresses are hard to find because they hold up really well and last forever. The main companies stopped selling them for that reason, they want people buying mattresses more often. I have one and it's great and really comfortable. Kind of like a less squishy memory foam.

If you're in New England, Yankee Mattress Co. is excellent. You select the firmness you want, they manufacture it upon order.

Indigo is nice, I have one. Make sure you get the new model that has NO FIBERGLASS. Ask to make sure. Most mattresses are either soaked in chemicals that will fuck up your endocrine system or wrapped in fiberglass for fire retardant as per government requirements. It’s stupid and dangerous, but that’s our gov…

Research chemicals in new mattresses or fiberglass in mattresses on Amazon for a fun rabbit hole of fear and disgust.
