Even though it’s legitimately a massive inconvenience to myself and my employer, what would they actually try to pull if I just decided not to show up. I realize fines and jail time as well as a misdemeanor are on the table, but is that really even likely?

I would be careful with that. Judges see that kind of stuff all the time. I've seen judges threaten fines or jail time to people that they think are being dishonest just to avoid jury duty. Never heard of anyone actually being punished, but I think a judge has a lot of leeway if they choose.

Personally, I wouldn't want to act like a total asshole in a public forum like that. In the unlikely case that I end up in court, I don't want to be on record as acting super racist in court.
