It's really dependent upon whether or not you were raised by a single mother. Once you control for that the race correlation disappears.
There is truth to what you're saying, here.
However, single-parent homes do not account for all the disparities. I went deep into this topic with research a couple of years ago and I came out with a 70%+ correlation to violent crime (single parent homes).
The link I saw ran multiple regressions but unfortunately I lost it.
Duuuude, if you can find that, I would LOVE it. I've been preaching for years that the biggest problem in the black community is the lack of fathers.
