My close relatives aren't stupid enough to trust a dna test from a commercial. If you want a true dna test done they have private dna tests done in labs. Thankfully my people kept good records and journals so i know my ancestry.
My SO from Florida inherited a scrap book from her grandmother with carefully preserved locks of hair from a slew of relatives. The next time we went to a family reunion just down from Wewahitchka, she gave it to the then leading patriarch of the family. I mused with him that they should have all the hair tested and he look aghast and replied that, "We don't want to open that can of worms."
im pretty sure if you want usable dna from hair you need to rip it out by the roots so the follicle is still stuck to it.
you are correct
With DNA test, you'll go from Possiblezombie22 to: Damnrightimazombie22 in no time.
I think that's how it works.
