My suggestion get yourself a sling bow and a few arrows better yet get two... get a small book on fletching, and carry the supplies {glue,tools}... bring a small arrowhead mold and crucible to melt down tin or iron... With those you can take down bigger game and not waste any resources... For example running out of good arrows, hunt a bird or two find some sticks, you should always have extra arrowheads that you can manufacture in the field...
