Duolingo is free with ads, but is structured well and pretty useful!

Depends on the language. What are you trying to learn?

French, the language of turbo cucks

Hmm shit I have no resource on the language of the elusive surrender monkey.

$2 or $3 at the Dollar store should get you a stick and a white hankie to tie to it and wave about.

A friend uses DuoLingo to brush up before traveling to France. Appears to be free.

You can probably still get a cracked version of rosetta stone from the pirate bay. I got it years and years ago, with all the languages, and tried a few out. It looked extremely promising from what I tried out. Most of it you use a mic for and it evaluates you on pronunciation. Lots of matching games and stuff too. Pretty well structured. No wonder it costs hundreds of dollars.

Im re-downloading it now just for shits and giggles(https://thepiratebay.org/description.php?id=8817203). Its a massive file, and will take a few hours, but it looks like a good version.

I've tried a few, I like rossetta stone the best .I originally used it in the military where they had a similar deal, any time I got activated I got access to the entire product library and could learn anything I wanted, but I was always to busy doing military things. They took away my access though any time I came off orders.

I don't like the time limited subscription model though, so I bought a life time subscription to one module for the language I wanted most from a reseller when they had a price discount promotion, waited a few years and took advantage of a e-mail prmototion from the developers, and expanded it to all modules for that language for like 20 bucks, then later they gave me a promotion that unlocked all the languages for any module I owned, so now I have a life time subscription to their entire product range, and it was only around 50$

You can get every module on tpb. I downloaded them all years ago.

yeah i tried that but ran into issues with it. now I can just log into the website or use the app on any device and use the extra bonus features also. the legit package is a better user experience than pirating it (even though that is an option)

last I saw, some book stores have the life long language packs still, they are a pretty good value, but I would not buy what they sell direct on the website, It is a great product, but it's overpriced without some kind of promo for poor folk.

Pimsleur courses teaches languages to a conversational level. No grammar, no reading/writing. Just listen and repeat. Another great way to build up your functional vocabulary is once you've completed level 1, start translating articles and blog posts in topics you're interested in. You'll be surprised how fast you'll start to progress. Each lesson is 20-30 minutes. I surpassed my wife in functional German after a few weeks and she had been religiously working at Duolingo for nearly a year, she knows words but can't use them.

Pimsleur can be found for free download online if you look in the right places.

VR headset and find a language room for the language you seek. Don’t even need a headset, but it is better.
