seems pointless to ask. and just as pointless to voat.
For a long time I've been tempted to make another video site that would be a little more censored. The motivation is that I feel a desire for a digital space that is exclusively culturally white. What is white culture and what would it become if left to itself? This is a question that I feel many of us are attracted to on a deeply foundational level and feel a right to know the answer to, and that in a sense our rights are denied to us if we are prevented from knowing that answer. For this reason the thought of creating a video space that is exclusively white is something has entered my head often.
Culture is the product of the images we see and the ideas we are exposed to and the words we listen to. So what is white culture? It's what white people are when they see the images, ideas, voice, and product of white thought. If the image of a black person is in our culture our culture is no longer white. I'm not saying that such things should be universally censored, but that in a way the maximal anti-censorship allows such a place to exist and express itself as art. Art and experimentation go hand in hand, and to censor such an experiment would be to deprive the world of a particular message.
The question isn't can I make it, or if it were successful would it have value. Those things are obvious. The question is if it would have any success at all to make it worth making. Gvid honestly hangs on by a hair. And by that I don't mean its under any threat of disapearing. That's not going to happen. But its success as a platform is I think worthwhile but not by the largest margin. The question is if a tube site that is even more niche with a content policy that would be very restrictive would even bother to have anyone upload to it. I suppose I could add a check box on gvid uploads to also upload to this other site, and then another checkbox verifying that people understand its content policy.
So the content policy would be no images or audio of non-white people, at all, period. The number of videos that would qualify would be very restrictive.
Worth it? Not worth it? A grotesque alignment with censorship? A silly art project not worthy of technical effort that will never even be seen by anyone?
Would anyone upload to it?
I'm going to leave a poll. Don't be afriad to vote your real opinion. I'd much more value your honest opinion than blind positivity. But if you do think it's worthwhile let me know.
