For context: I never initiate political conversation at the table. I think it is impolite, and I doubt most of the people at my table even know my political orientation. But this year, fuck it. If anyone brings up Vaccines, I want to be well prepared to ruin Thanksgiving for everyone with facts and logic.

I like making mashed cauliflower even more than mashed potatoes, now. You have to boil it forever, and mash it well, or else it can come out a little bit wonky on the texture, but man, it has more flavor than potatoes. Pan-frying brussel sprouts in some balsamic vinegar and a tiny bit of olive oil tastes pretty good. You can mix in some bacon pieces if you've got any vegans in the family who you don't want to hear go on about them. Also, homemade cranberry sauce is incredibly different (and better) than the canned blob most people are used to having.

You can always try to redirect conversation focus with the out-of-town relatives by bringing up gas prices, food prices, etc, and how the vaccine has already killed more children than every other vaccine in human history combined, and they haven't even passed the next round of mandates yet.

Instead of potatoes. Use yams. Holy shit they ruined regular potaotes for me. Not the orange sweet potaotes but these

Potatoes especially sweet ones are pretty bad for you.

Cauliflower is good because we cannot digest it. Long chain twisted bond sugars need more stomachs than we have.

Eat meat

I eat what my ancestors ate, what scores highly on the protein digestibility as score and what makes me think and lift optimally. It ain't keto. So milk, eggs, potatoes and beef for me. Lots of porridge from the last few hundred years, made with milk and salt. 0 issues, hits a spot.

I avoid seed oils and junk food.

In terms of insulin production (insulin is the necessary evil for life that makes sugar a poison), potatoes are worse than eating candy or drinking soda. The less insulin your body makes (or takes if you're diabetic), the healthier you will be.

They also have nice foliage, I always sneak sweet potatoes in flower gardens

What do you think re-heats the best if I've got to travel a bit for my Thanksgiving?

The cranberry sauce wouldn't need to be heated at all. Plopping it in a cooler with an icepack would be more than sufficient to keep it servable. If you already have a knack for baking, dinner rolls wouldn't even need that (but take way more effort). As for hot foods, anything that can be put back into the oven to reheat (green bean casserole, yams & marshmallows, etc) would be most ideal.

Yam casserole with pecans bits and brown sugar. *scrub the yams, rinse and peel. Cut them up in pieces and steam until soft. Mash them up add chopped pecans, brown sugar and butter. Pour all this into a casserole dish. Lightly dust confectioner's sugar on top after heating in 350 deg oven. I skip the marshmallows. Homemade baked macaroni and cheese travels well.

. I usually cut about third to a half of the sugar the recipe calls. I freeze the jam in small canning jars. I made a plum/cranberry/orange jam last year because I had an huge crop of damsons.I pack the jars in a box for travel. The sugar in the sauce is enough to keep it fresh. No need to ice it down before you serve, unless you like it cold. I go for room temp. Make nice little gifts for family and friends during the holidays.
