I just bought a house and there is a 3 gallon container of the stuff in the storage shed . The previous owner was an electrician and God fearing man so I don't think he was drinking it . Anyone know its' purpose / use ?

ethyl alcohol owner was an electrician

he was probably using it to clean switch contacts on contactor switches

I use isopropyl alcohol for much the same thing

That also explains the 30 bottles of rubbing alcohol .
