I just bought a house and there is a 3 gallon container of the stuff in the storage shed . The previous owner was an electrician and God fearing man so I don't think he was drinking it . Anyone know its' purpose / use ?

It is almost pure alcohol, so you can clean things with it (like electronics) and then it will quickly evaporate leaving no liquid behind.
