Perfidy is specifically prohibited under the 1977 Protocol I Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949, which states:

Protocol I of the Geneva Convention Article 37.

  1. It is prohibited to kill, injure or capture an adversary by resort to perfidy. Acts inviting the confidence of an adversary to lead him to believe that he is entitled to, or is obliged to accord, protection under the rules of international law applicable in armed conflict, with intent to betray that confidence, shall constitute perfidy.

Not that I suspect that piece of shit knew that at the time..

You’ll only find out if you’re on the business end. My argument is that what we saw last summer constituted a modern form of warfare. I know it is a trivial aspect of this whole shitshow, and that the Geneva convention mine as well be written on toilet paper at this point, yet that fucko still did one of the dirtiest things one can do.

I'd fake a surrender to get an edge against ZOGs thugs. They're fighting a war without open military action but trying to tie us to rules of "civilized" warfare. Fuck that. I'm a civilian. I didn't volunteer or consent to be a combatant. When we get there, I'm going to do whatever I can to survive and protect my family. We are up against an relativistic opponent that has abandoned the concept of morals and values.

I do not disagree, do what you must to protect you and yours above all else, but that particular tactic is still pretty fucked up.

Rules like this must be followed by both sides involved in a war. If one side is willing to break these rules, but the other will not, it doesn't take a genius to figure out which side will have a huge edge.

This is part of the reason why we lost in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq. We had absurd rules of engagement to abide by, wore uniforms that stood out and marked us as "the enemy"- the enemy dressed like civilians, and always got to make the first move. They didn't have to radio a commander to get permission to open fire on a couple Marines- they saw an opportunity and then took the shot.

In the army we reviewed the geneva conventions.. Per GC: You can't shoot personnel with heavy weaponry.. No .50 cal fire on people. Its anti-material weapon, not anti-personnel.
