I was talking to someone yesterday from church. They had mentioned that because I have a wicked sinful heart, that any and all external acts of benevolence to others was for nothing, and that I was still a terrible person at heart. The idea is that I am over compensating for being a terrible person by appearing to be nice. Essentially, his argument was that even though I had to be nice to him, I should never assume that the generosity will be recognized or awarded. This made me think, clearly me helping others is falling on deaf ears, which then makes me think why should I bother?

Being nice is a form of cowardice. We be nice because we fear others not liking us.

He's just telling you the doctrine of original sin and total depravity of man, taught by the Reformers as ensconced (where's a thesaurus when you need one) in the scriptures.

You are dead in trespasses and sins, good works won't save you. You must be born again for God to accept your good works. So as they say, it is a sin for an unconverted man to pray, and a sin not to.

Just because it's complicated and makes not a lot of sense to us doesn't make it untrue. Research 'sovereignty of God and responsibility of man.'

If this was posted in Christianity I'd keep my mouth shut, but since we're in general population I can't help but point out the striking resemblance to backwards jew logic here.

It's basically, good people are actually bad people if they don't follow our narrative. And bad people are actually good people as long as they are subservient to us.

This is why Volkish Pagans say that Christianity primes us for subversion, because this core Christian concept is a direct parallel for modern day subversive ideas - just replace racism for baptism and its the exact same logic, and it's easier to accept if you've spent your life convincing yourself that this is somehow possible.

I agree the truth of it is important, and I'm confused why you would say whatever like your soul isn't important, and the fate of your people isn't important, and being lied to and manipulated isn't important. If I'm right or if I'm wrong it's not whatever.

I've given a reason why anyone who hasn't really thought about this should at least think about that. Call it a test of faith if you want our just use it to tighten up your beliefs but there's a reason this is difficult to answer.

I understand if you're devout and disagree with me, and I see White Christians as brothers and allies first and foremost. But to claim you're a Christian yet the fate of your soul, the question of following a religion that is true or subverted by evil is just "whatever" !? That pisses me off.

In previous generations of French 'nice' meant stupid. The point of being charitable is not about being recognized or awarded. If you're being charitable for those reasons then you're not really being charitable.

"What shall it profit my brethren, if a man say he hath faith : but hath not works? Shall faith be able to save him? That person was telling you who THAT person is, take note. This is a rare time when someone is telling you about their own heart and how that person intends to treat you. Watch your back with that one. You don't have to be friends with all 7 billion people on earth. Sift through the people, find the good ones, the 'heaven on earth' people, and distance yourself from the 'hell on earth' people. Thank the person for exposing their true self to you so you don't make a mistake of trusting them.

This is literally the same racism argument the religious idealogues on the left use as well: Any efforts to not see race is clearly an overcompensation for being racism therefore nothing that you do will ever remove that label.

Because part of me thinks the guy was projecting his own vices onto others. The guy was ( by his own words, and corraberated by his family), an impulsive, reckless alcoholic, chain smoker, and reckless with finances to the point he almost broke his entire family apart.

Depends on why you help people. Can't earn heaven it's a gift. If you think you can do enough good things to earn it you are wrong. If realizing you have received that gift makes you happy you may be inclined to share the happiness and gift others.

Ultimately we are to love our neighbors because they are made in Gods image and likeness. Love doesn't mean be nice. If your kid is taking hard drugs love would.mean do whatever it takes to get them to stop including not being nice.
