North/South-firing cannonballs establish a control, then the East-firing cannonballs should fall significantly farther than all others and West-firing cannonballs should fall significantly closer due to the supposed 19 mile per second Eastward rotation of the Earth. In actual fact, however, regardless of which direction cannons are fired, North, South, East, or West, the distance covered is always the same. Now keep in mind you mentioned the Coriolis Effect which is at times applied to the trajectory of a bullet. You can’t consider one and not the other. That’s one of the reasons why a physicist did not want to hold onto the Coriolis Effect. If you say earth’s rotation can effect a bullet but not a airplane you invite integrity problems.
