Something I have contemplated recently. My mom had explained a while ago that the money my wife left me wasn't really mine, it belonged to both sides of the family. In reality, since I didn't do anything to earn said money, I should honestly be happy that I got any money at all. However, this has made me think, maybe my mom is right, and I should just relinquish the entire amount. For logistical purposes I cant do all of it in one go, but I can probably relinquish around 200,000 this year, and then relinquish another 300,000 in the coming years. If I go full bore I can relinquish around 750,000 in around 5 years time. It's not ideal, since I would need to shuffle a bunch of stuff around, but it is doable. I don't plan on having a family, and I don't really care about money to begin with. I think at this point I have spent close to 125,000 on paying off debts, loans and random stuff here and there for family members and other people. So what's an extra 750,000 on top of that anyways.
