I think for a man there's a period where this word makes sense for a short time when someone is transitioning between friend and rival, but it's not something that lasts a long time.
I do see a lot of competative behavior from guys I know though. Some of it is petty and unbecoming of a man in my opinion. I guess that counts.

Friends don't need em now family I need family but not always blood. I got some down right shitty family members that are blood related and then ones that adopted my mom wow amazing folks
