We used to have a word for excessively to the point of being emotionally off 'happy'. Now we don't have a word for that anymore, it just means homosexual. I don't see any reason to not have this word anymore, seems like a good word. What's ironic is you can't be 'overly happy' anymore without people thinking you're homosexual. Seems that this usurping was actually the beginning of 1984 double think style controlling.

Wouldn't you think people being 'overly happy' to the point of not making sense, might be good for a healthy society with cohesiveness?

I think this shows us the intent. It was probably less about ruining the word gay and more about taking baby steps to make faggotry sound more positive. In other words changing the implication from "these people are strange" to "doing this makes these people really happy"
