Do you all have any recommendations for books on surviving outside and thriving? Of particular interest is homesteading and the Appalachian area. I picked up a book on homesteading and the US army survival guide newest edition. I'm looking to make myself a small library of useful books if the power goes out.

I've picked up the following recently.

Back to Basics: A Complete Guide to Traditional Skills (Back to Basics Guides) The Encyclopedia of Country Living, 50th Anniversary Edition: The Original Manual for Living off the Land & Doing It Yourself Gaia's Garden: A Guide to Home-Scale Permaculture, 2nd Edition Bushcraft: Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival (Books)

Additional books on herbalism, fermentation, gardening, foraging for your area is ideal.

Find a local butcher that processes wild game and see if he can recommend a manual/book for field dressing game animals.

Why? Because you might have to start at the bottom and work your way up to homesteading. Also, any Kurt Saxon books you can find, though rare now.
