In the absence of a local community, a proper sense of tribal belonging and a quality husband to provide for a secure family unit, they become mercenary and view sex as a form of mercantilism & a power dynamic. It makes a lot of money with low effort, the state/ media promotes it, they get positive attention & validation, they feel like they have control over men, they have nothing else to offer that would be as effective, and they were likely not raised to have a strong sense of dignity & self-worth so don't mind commodifying such things. It's also safer for them to sell themselves online than to sell themselves irl.
