My wife is pregnant with our first child and she has had a conversation with an older lady who says that you need to consume your placenta in one way or another. She said the hospital will even put it in capsules for you. She says everyone of her friends that didn’t end up doing it had bad postpartum depression, whereas the people who did ingest it were spared. I guess there are other benefits too? It sounds like something a lunatic would do, but what’s the consensus here? Am I wrong to think that’s it’s nuts?

I’m trying to convince her to use a midwife for this exact reason. She’s just concerned that we will be far from the hospital if anything happens like uncontrollable bleeding. I really don’t like the idea of my baby leaving my sight after it’s born to be injected or God knows what.

They do exactly this. Then they will take him/her to a place that you are not a,lowed to go. It is wrong. They have been known to just do things like shots to a child and joke about it to each other because ‘they’ know better as nurses versus you stupid Luddite parent.

Countless videos have been posted of exactly that.

Complications of a healthy birth are rare, a mid wife consult would be a great way to gain knowledge and not make choices from a place of fear.
