I just saw my dentist and apparently your teeth are only supposed to touch when swallowing. This is odd and new to me. I've always been taught to keep a closed jaw to prevent losing teeth if anything hits your jaw, fist or otherwise.

...relaxing your jaw as much as you can is the first step in deeply relaxing the entire muscular system.

I can see that as a relaxation method. But even while I'm sitting here at the desk, my teeth are lightly 'interlocked' (teeth aren't flat surfaces, there's grooves that mesh together). When I'm at the gym I notice My jaws are tight when I'm at the end reps of a set and exerting near max effort.
