It's all part of the push to change Halloween into Mardi Gras. Devils, witches and demons are out; Snow White, Mickey Mouse and the Little Marmaid are in. It seems to be an effort to make people forget what All Hallows Eve actually means -- the time of the year when the days grow short and clouds cover the moon; when leaves fall dead and rustle like dry bones; when the souls the the departed walk the twilight zone between this world and the next; when it becomes possible to meet ghosts of those you loved face to face.
