Frankly, the overreaction to this "ridiculous theory", as you put it, harkens the image of a bunch of reddit-types falling over themselves trying to suppress a wrong think. But I doubt it's actually organic. Moneyed glow-ball-ist interests are funding fake outrage to muddy the waters.
